CHILD DENTISRTY:-
Care for milk teeth and their important role in guiding the permanent teeth into proper position in mouth should always be considered for future esthetics and function. Hence regular visit to dentist at least once in a year will guide children to rectify minor correction possible in growth period to gain a good future esthetic smile too.
Milk / deciduous teeth are the foundation and guide path for the healthy and well aligned permanent teeth. Care and appropriate treatment is a must to retain them till the permanent teeth erupts.
Pediatric Dentistry emphasizes the establishment of trust and confidence in children with their dentists. Consequently, one of the main components of pediatric training is child psychology. This manifests itself in special office designs, different communication styles and an emphasis on teaching preventative dental habits to children in an effort to make dental visits enjoyable.
Additionally, Pediatric Dentists work toward the maintenance of primary teeth (baby teeth) until they are naturally lost. This is due to the importance they serve in permitting children to chew properly and therefore maintain good nutrition, their role in speech development, and the maintenance of space for the eventual eruption of the permanent teeth.Early oral examination aids in the detection of the early stages of tooth decay.
PREVENTIVE DENTISRTY:-
Fluoride therapy:
Application of fluoride as per the recommendation can prevent future dental decay to certain extend. This doesn’t mean that every one requires a fluoride therapy.
Pit and fissure sealants:
There are natural pits, fissure and grooves on the chewing surface of the back teeth that may cause food retention. If these are deep and narrow then it has to be sealed off to prevent tooth decay/caries. It is a noninvasive procedure which does not require local anesthesia and require a few minute only. This is a very effective treatment for both children and adults.
